We are holding a small contest here at Bloggst in order to encourage users to start participating. We will also be rewarding those who are able to get their friends to sign up and participate as well. Prizes include a 2 year
Flickr Pro account and
MyBlogLog Pro accounts!
The rules are simple. Each user will be awarded "contest points", and the three users with the highest score at the end of the contest will win the prizes! Contest Points are calculated by multiplying your post count with the amount of referrals (which can be seen in the profile for every user).
Please note: There was some confusion about this, but you don't need any referrals to be part of the contest, because even though you have zero, your post count will still be counted as your contest score. Referrals will only affect your score if you have two or more.
A referral is accredited to your profile when a registering user inputs your username as the referrer. Be sure to tell the users you are encouraging to join to put in your username when they sign up, because unless this is done it will
not be counted when calculating your score. I repeat, unless registering users input your username as the referrer, there is
no way of getting it to added to your contest point score.
Update: You can now see your
referral link in your
User Control Panel. By referring new members to Bloggst through this link, they will automatically be accredited to your account as a referral if they sign up for Bloggst the session that was started through your referral link. You can also email your friends through the "Refer a Friend" feature we have implemented, which is also found in your
User Control Panel!

There are some restrictions however. Posts that don't contribute to a thread in any way will disqualify you from the contest. I don't expect this to be much of a problem, but posts like "I agree." are not encouraged here at Bloggst, and won't be rewarded either.
Since the referrals can easily help you increase your Contest Point score, there are some restrictions on that as well. For a referral to be counted as valid in the contest, each user you refer must make at least 10 posts before that user is calculated into your Contest Point score. This is to prevent people from getting others to sign up just to increase their score.
The contest will be running until
Saturday, April 15th, 11:59 PM (GMT + 1), and all posts and referrals acquired since the opening of Bloggst will be included when calculating your Contest Points. Since no users have had the time to accumulate a lot of points as of yet, I don't feel this is discriminating towards new users.

While we would love to give out million dollar prizes, our funding is a bit limited, so we had to restrict ourselves a bit. I do believe that we have some decent prizes to chose from however, and hopefully they give users incentive to participate actively.

Should the winner decide that he for some reason wants a MyBlogLog Pro account instead of Flickr Pro, the second place will be offered the two year Flickr Pro account.
