Blogging about Technorati keywords

Has anyone has tried out a technique that involves writing posts about the most popular keywords (searches) over at Technorati? Supposedly people doing this are receiving thousands of visitors with this technique. I wrote about the iPhone once when it was near the top, but I didn't get a single visitor from Technorati

What's the secret?!

That is a very good question that I have been thinking about as well!
Do we even have to bother to have Technorati tags at the end of our posts? Some say yes, and some say no...

My stats tell me Technorati sends me readers with tags associated to the content of my post. So yes, it works.

Spencer, didn't it occur to you that you were not the only one writing about the iphone? The numbers blogging about it were in thousands and everyone was reporting the same story so what would make yours stand out? Probably since almost everyone was writing about it, it actually made it difficult for you to get visitors.

I would assume that goes for most of the popular topics on Technorati, and not just the iPhone that Spence mentioned as an example. The question is, how does Technorati filter out which posts gets exposure? That would obviously be a key element in using it to draw in traffic.

I'm not really sure about this, but I guess they rank the posts based on recency, as well as the blog's rank. Someone will need to confirm this for me though.

As for the Technorati tags, I'm not sure how useful they actually are. Technorati automatically tags your content I believe, and if you're using an internal tag system (like UTW for instance), it is absolutely redundant, since Technorati automatically discovers those tags.

I've never tried it, maybe we should all band together and test the theory? It could be fun...

The only popular keywords I've written about I think, is the iPhone just like Spence. I didn't see any visitors coming in from Technorati through that.

And that would be cool Melissa, but for some I don't feel like writing about the latest American Idol rejects on my blog - It's not exactly my niche

I'm not sure, but at the very least five of them are at all times related to women that have just been "exposed", if you know what I mean Well maybe not that much, but from what I've seen, bloggers really are nudity-addicts!

That would definitely be an interesting project! I don't have the time to organize it right now though, but if you decide to give it a go, count me in
