It's actually true (yes, I checked. He was featured on Business Week and New York Times, etc.) After digging around, here is what we can learn:

1. You do not have to rely on google adsense to make money. Once your blog is big enough, offering private advertising and affiliate marketing is also quite lucrative.

2.Being a slave to google by optimizing your keywords so you rank well on search engines is kind of a waste. Once you start focusing your attention to quality posts, the traffic and loyalty will surely follow.

3. Post often and give your blog time to grow! Shoemoney has been going for six years. If you are not all ready linking your blog posts to Twitter, you are missing out on traffic. You can automate this by signing on with pingvine. It's easy and a time saver (not to mention it generates more traffic).

On your blog, post links to other helpful blogs (and in exchange, request that the other blog will post YOUR link on their site). Just make sure it is not a competitor to you. Most times, people will agree because it benefits both of you.
